Rimpage Next Big Star Event
Before Ashton Cook became a king, he nearly lost the game forever.
Offered a pro contract to play in the Dominican Republic, everything changed when a sudden liver infection left him hospitalized for a month. He lost weight. He had to relearn how to walk. But from that hospital bed, Ashton made a promise — to himself and to God — that he wouldn’t give up.
He came back stronger. Doing his own rehab. Rebuilding.
Then came Rimpage’s Next Big Star event — his first test. Ashton entered both the King of the Court and 3-Point Shootout... and won them both.
The comeback was complete. The rise had begun.
Rimpage city battles
In May 2022, Rimpage launched City Battles—an open circuit where hoopers from across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex could earn their city's crown. It was about reputation, rankings, and ruling your region.
Ashton came out dominant, rising to the #1 spot. But an injury forced him to the sidelines—and he briefly lost that crown to Jazray Harrington.
When Ashton returned, the city felt it. He became the first player in Rimpage history to hit 30 wins, and he did it with a streak that set the tone for what would follow.
Decus Pro: "The Revenge Match"
In August 2023, Rimpage hosted Decus Pro: For Glory—a night of battles featuring Rimpage’s elite. The main event? A long-awaited rematch: Ashton Cook vs. Spencyr Wro.
Spencyr had handed Ashton his only career loss in October 2022—a buzzer-beater two-pointer from deep that stunned the crowd and sealed Ashton’s fate. That wound stayed open.
This time, Ashton didn’t leave it to chance. In a best-of-three series, he dominated. No buzzer-beaters. No miracles. Just closure.
